Vietnam has officially begun construction of what is set to become the biggest stadium in the world — the Trong Dong Stadium.
The ambitious project will feature a staggering 135,000-seat capacity, surpassing every existing football ground globally once completed. The stadium will also include a massive retractable roof, designed to host matches and major events in all weather conditions.
Vietnam aims to have the stadium ready by 2028, marking a historic milestone in the country’s sporting development.
If completed as planned, the Trong Dong Stadium would overtake iconic venues such as:
- Rungrado 1st of May Stadium (currently the world’s largest stadium by capacity)
- Narendra Modi Stadium (largest cricket stadium in the world)
The project signals Vietnam’s growing ambitions on the global sports stage, potentially positioning the nation as a future host for major international tournaments.
