Former Jamie Carragher has showered praise on teenage talent Rio Ngumoha following his cameo performance for Liverpool F.C. against Nottingham Forest F.C..
Carragher described the match as one of the “biggest robberies” he has seen in the Premier League this season, but made sure to highlight Ngumoha’s electric contribution off the bench.
Speaking after the game, Carragher said:
“Liverpool against Nottingham Forest was one of the biggest robberies I’ve seen in the Premier League this season, it really is.
But I will say this, Rio Ngumoha came on in the 77th minute, he did more in 15 minutes than Gakpo and Salah did in the whole game. He changed the game this kid. He needs to be starting games now. He’s that good.”
Ngumoha’s late introduction brought urgency and creativity to Liverpool’s attack, instantly lifting the tempo and troubling Forest’s defence.
Carragher’s comments will certainly fuel discussions about whether the youngster deserves a place in the starting lineup moving forward.
